The Grand Strand Model Railroad Club will once again host its annual show October 26 and 27 at Lakewood Conference Center at the Lakewood Camping Resort.
The show is Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is $5.00 per person older than 13. There will be 24 vendors and more than 80 display tables, including exhibits from North Carolina.
The club is set up permanently at Myrtle Beach Mall, and despite only being open 14 hours a week (Monday, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday 12:00 to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.), the club has hosted 70,000 visitors in just over two years.
“Everybody loves trains,” said club president Ed Sharrett. “They also like the fact that we’re working on (the layouts), so they can see what we’re doing. We have people come back every week, and tourists–they come down here last year, then they come down here this year to see what we’ve got done.”
You can check out the club at their website listed above, or on the Grand Strand Model Railroaders FaceBook page.
And don’t forget that the Charleston show, sponsored by the Charleston Area Model Railroad Club will be held November 9 and 10, 2013.
