Just a quick note on a book about the buildings of the Southern Railway in and around the Charleston area that I have overlooked up till now. Not sure how I had done that, but it is for sale by the Southern Railway Historical Association and is currently discounted for the holiday season.
According to the description on the SRHA site, “This book features Southern Railway’s buildings and structures from Charleston to Branchville, SC, including depots, piers, warehouses, section houses, and water tanks. This book is compiled from SRHA’s collection of ICC valuation documents, and provides a glimpse of the Southern Railway in 1917. This is a complete snapshot of the Southern in Charleston, including its predecessor the South Carolina Railway. By Craig Myers, 72 pages, 120 photos and diagrams.”
